Volunteer Fair Connects Community with Local Opportunities

Time to read: ~ minutes,

We were delighted to host our Volunteer Fair on Tuesday, bringing together organisations and members of the community keen to make a difference through volunteering.

Held during Volunteers’ Week, the event formed part of the national celebration of volunteering, showcasing the difference volunteers make every day.

It was fantastic to see so many people through the doors to discover the range of volunteering opportunities on offer. The event featured 23 organisations from across Wiltshire, including Beyond Dementia, Carers Together and Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance, alongside well-loved local groups such as Salisbury Cathedral, Wessex Rivers Trust, Silver Salisbury and Boscombe Down Aviation Collection.

Visitors had the opportunity to speak directly with representatives from charities and community groups, learning more about the valuable work they do and the many ways volunteers can get involved and make a difference.

The feedback from both attendees and exhibitors was incredibly positive. Every organisation that attended rated the event as either good or excellent, highlighting the value of bringing the voluntary sector together under one roof. More than half of the organisations reported that they had connected with people who expressed an interest in volunteering with them.

One exhibitor commented:

“Lovely relaxed event, lots of talking and engaging people interested in volunteering.”

Another said:

“A useful event and worth attending for the networking and profile in addition to contacting potential volunteers.”

Events like this show the strength of our local community and the willingness of people to give their time, skills and experience to support causes they care about. We would like to thank all the organisations that took part and everyone who attended, helping to make the day such a success.
